So on Friday Ryan didn't have class, due to a 'research day'. He studied in the morning, and in the afternoon we decided to head over to Purple Turtle Beach. Neil and Jen came too, and it was a great afternoon. Purple Turtle Beach is only a short bus ride away, on the other side of Portsmouth. It is a beautiful, sandy beach. There were a lot of yachts anchored just off shore. We really enjoyed just swimming around and relaxing in the sun.
Later we brought the kite out and had a lot of fun flying it... and a lot of spectators too! Because it's a narrow beach we had to actually stand in the water to fly the kite, and so the kite had it's first dunking in the ocean. We rinsed it out when we got home so that it wouldn't be hurt by the salt water. But we did spend about an hour flying it... and laughing at the 'pilot' when the kite crashed.
Here are a few photos of the beach:
Oh and here is a lovely photo of the large eel-like creature Ryan and I saw on Saturday, right next to where we were swimming at Purple Turtle Beach. He looks friendly, doesn't he? He's about two feet long and as fat as my wrist.
