Friday night, Ryan and I spent some time playing cards in the kitchen. At one point, we got a phone call and went into the bedroom to answer it (as some of you know when we try to talk to you in the kitchen, it is very echo-y). We were only in there about 15-20 minutes and we had a rather large shock when we walked back into the kitchen.
There were a few THOUSAND bugs all over our walls, table, chairs, counters, stove, fridge, windows, ceiling, curtains, and light. The vast majority of the bugs were dead. At the time, we thought they were fruit flies, but we were later told that they were flying ants. These ants apparently come out every month or two, and they are annoying but harmless. They are very attracted to light, which is why so many of ours were dead. We think they ran into our light, died, and were blown about the room by our fan. We were also told that when the flying ants are out, not to wear white, as they are very attracted to that color. While Ryan and I cleaned up the ants (with a broom) I was wearing a white tank top and they were EVERYWHERE on my shirt. Yuck.
But here are some photos of our ant adventure!
Dead ants on the floor... each tile is about eight inches by eight inches.
Ants on our fridge. Every little black speck is a flying ant.
