Good Show Erika!

Today Ryan and I are having a relaxing start to the morning. We're supposed to be heading out to hike and have lunch with some friends, but Tropical Storm Erika has delayed those plans a bit.

The storm is pretty quiet, really more of a light rain than a storm, but we're going to wait a few more hours to see if things will clear up a bit. Erika's center is already past up, but she is a very poorly organized very LARGE storm so we're getting a fair bit of rain.

There was a bit of thunder and lightening last night, and it rained most of the night, but we've definitely seen worse! Right now we're just praying that it clears up a little bit so that we can enjoy Red Rocks. Our friends Jen and Neil spent their one year anniversary at the little hotel at Red Rocks, and they really enjoyed hiking and exploring the red rock cliffs that give the area its name. Since Jen's sister Jess and her husband Dan are visiting, they wanted to show it to them, and Ryan and I were going to tag along.

We've got a van rented, Red Rocks is serving food, and we've got plenty of gas in the van (gas can be hard to find down here!) but we're still stuck, waiting for this rain to pass. We'll be heading out a little later this afternoon, no matter the weather. At least we'll have a nice meal!

Tomorrow we're going to be hiking Boiling Lake again. You remember, that's the three hour (one way) hike where you hike UP a mountain, down into the Valley of Desolation, and back UP the mountain to the lake. We may be crazy. If I can't post tomorrow, assume it's because I am too sore to sit up.
